One of Japan's largest limestone caves had special lighting

5 Nov

Akiyoshido, designated as Special National Treasure and one of the largest and longest limestone caves in Japan, was illuminated with the colors of the rainbow in a special event held between October 26 and November 4 of 2018.

The cave was open at night so visitors can enjoy the mysterious natural formations illuminated by LED lights. These include the "100 Plates," an accumulation of limestone that resembles more than 500 stacked piled-up dishes on top of each other and the massive "Golden Pillar," a tower of 15 meters high and 4 meters in diameter.

Artistic images were projected onto the surface of the rock at the entrance and Christmas inspired items at the exit.
